CONFERENCES + COMPLEX BUSINESS EVENTS

Senior event partnership for events that are growing, changing, or just ready to work better

I help businesses improve and lead complex events, bringing strategy, operational rigor, financial stewardship & measurement together from planning through execution.

I work across in-person, virtual, and hybrid events, from one major conference to broader event programs.

01

Full Event Leadership

Need an experienced partner to lead your event from planning through execution?

I handle the strategy, the planning, the vendors, the budget, the run-of-show, and the on-site execution, integrating with your existing team and workflows so nothing falls through the cracks.

Even better, I'll bring senior judgment to every decision along the way, from the big strategic calls down to the smallest production detail.

The engagement can cover one major event or a full year of programming, whatever your business needs to hit its goals.

What that means for you

You have one experienced person holding the full picture.

Ideas get pressure-tested against budget, timing, logistics, and feasibility before they become expensive problems.

Teams know what they own.

Decisions have somewhere to land.

And you don’t have to personally connect every workstream just because the event sits under your department.

Best for

Major conferences, customer and user events, summits, executive programs, sales events, and other substantial business events that need senior overall ownership.

Engagements typically run three to twelve months, sometimes longer or ongoing.

Event Logistics

Need an experienced event partner to take ownership of a key part of your event?

If your internal team or agency already has overall event leadership covered, I can step in to own a defined logistics scope from planning through execution.

That might be registration & attendee logistics, venue/hotel & F&B, speaker or executive logistics, sponsorships, virtual or hybrid delivery, onsite logistics, or another substantial workstream.

Within that scope, I can manage the plan, budget, vendors, timelines, decisions & execution, while coordinating closely with the larger event team.

What that means for you

You can add experienced event leadership exactly where you need it, without changing who owns the event overall.

I take responsibility for my scope, bring the structure and operational rigor to keep it moving, and work as part of the team already in place.

And because my experience extends beyond a single logistics specialty, I can bring context and judgment to the decisions I'm responsible for rather than treating my piece of the event in isolation.

Best for

Events where overall leadership is already covered, but a specific logistics workstream needs experienced ownership.

Also a strong fit for event agencies looking for a senior partner to lead a defined part of a client program.

Engagements typically run one to six months, sometimes longer.

What I can own within an engagement

Every event is different, so the exact scope is built around what you already have in place and where experienced ownership will make the biggest difference.

Event Operations Consulting

The event works. Does the way you produce it work just as well?

Successful events often grow faster than the systems behind them.

Planning may live across disconnected spreadsheets, inboxes, and individual people. Roles that were obvious when the event was smaller become fuzzy. Budgets become harder to manage. The team rebuilds the same information every year. And leadership may be investing significantly in the event without a clear view of what it produced.

I look at how the event is being run, identify what’s creating friction or unnecessary risk and where the current approach is holding the team back, then help build a stronger way to manage it.

What that means for you

Your team spends less time rebuilding plans and tracking down information, with clearer ownership of who is responsible for what.

You have a better view of the budget, the results, and what actually happened, so you can make smarter decisions about the next event.

Best for

Established or growing events that have outgrown the way they’re currently being managed and need stronger systems, processes, and measurement behind them.

Especially useful for recurring events where the team is rebuilding too much each time, responsibilities have become unclear, or the systems that worked when the event was smaller are no longer keeping up.

Engagements typically run three to twelve months, sometimes longer or ongoing.

Strategy Session

Have a question that needs strategic input, but doesn't warrant a full engagement?

We can spend a focused hour on the event question you're working through, whether it's a pre-event strategy review, a post-event debrief, sponsorship strategy, or a portfolio audit.

You'll walk away with recommendations and a follow-up summary for you or your team.

$300 per session.

Your event needs more experienced ownership, and you're starting to feel it.

  • ✗ You're the bottleneck on every decision

Every vendor question, approval, and escalation comes back to you. You're losing time to decisions someone else could own, but handing them off isn't as simple as delegating a task.

You need someone who understands the event well enough to make good decisions, keep things moving, and know when you actually need to be involved.

  • ✗ You don't have a senior peer to think out loud with

You're making significant calls about budget, format, logistics, vendors, content, and the attendee experience, and sometimes you need another experienced person in the room.

Someone who can pressure-test an idea, spot what you may be missing, and help figure out what it will actually take to pull it off.

  • ✗ You need to be able to answer 'what did this drive?'

You're investing real time and money in the event.

Attendance and positive feedback matter, but you also want to understand what the event contributed to the business, whether that's pipeline, revenue influence, retention, sponsor renewals, customer engagement, or another goal you set from the start.

  • ✗ Something is going to fall through the cracks

Events are detail-intensive, and the more moving pieces there are, the harder it is for one person or team to keep track of all of them.

You need someone experienced to take real ownership of a part of the event, or the whole thing, so important decisions, dependencies, and details aren't relying on you to catch them.

  • ✗ You're pulling off a good event through a process that's much harder than it needs to be

The event gets done, but every year your team rebuilds the same plans, hunts through old files, relies on information that lives in someone's head, or works around systems that haven't kept up.

You know the event can keep getting better, but the way you plan and manage it needs to catch up first.

What changes when a senior event partner takes the wheel

  • Strategy tied to actual business goals

Every decision, from format to content to spend, gets mapped back to what the event is supposed to do for your business. Pipeline, retention, sponsor renewals, executive positioning, whatever the goal, the design serves it.

  • You stop being the bottleneck

I own the event or the workstreams we agree on, end to end. Vendor conversations, decisions, approvals inside scope, status, and escalation only when it matters. You get your strategic time back.

  • Numbers you can bring to the board

Success metrics defined up front. Tracking built into registration, content, and the post-event handoff to Sales. After the event you’ll have clean post-event analysis tying the event to pipeline, revenue attribution, and attendee outcomes.

  • Nothing falls through the cracks

Run-of-show, vendor management, registration, speaker prep, F&B, AV, sponsor activations, onsite execution. Whether I’m leading the whole event or a defined part of it, I take ownership of my scope from planning through execution.

  • A senior sounding board on call

Strategic calls, sanity checks, the vendor negotiation you don't have time for. I've made these decisions on high-budget B2B events for almost twenty years. You get that judgment in the room with you.

  • A stronger way to run the event

If the event has outgrown the systems behind it, I can help fix those too. Clearer ownership, stronger workbacks, better budget visibility, useful documentation, cleaner workflows, and better event data give your team a stronger foundation for this event and the next one.

How I Work

1. Understand your goals

Why does the event exist? What is working now? What isn't? What has changed? What does the next version need to do better?

Before building anything, I want to understand both the event and the business context around it.

2. Build the architecture & plan

Budget, workback, vendors, logistics, content, registration, roles & ownership, run-of-show, and the workflows that hold it all together. Everyone knows what they're responsible for, what needs to happen next, and how their piece connects to the rest of the event.

3. Lead, measure & improve

I lead from planning through the event itself, keeping the strategy, budget, operation, and business goals connected as decisions get made. Then we measure the results, understand what the event contributed to the business, and use that information to inform what comes next.

This probably isn't the right fit if...

✗ You're looking for the lowest-cost option, and price is the deciding factor over senior judgment.

✗ Your event is in two weeks and you need someone to parachute in cold. (Smaller logistics can occasionally work on tight timelines, but full-service engagements need runway.)

✗ You're hoping a great event will fix a broken go-to-market strategy. Events can support business and marketing goals, but they can't replace the strategy around them.

✗ You're planning a wedding, gala, or social event. I work on B2B corporate events: conferences, user events, sales kickoffs, and flagship programs.

✗ You want a junior contractor to handle entry-level tasks. I bring senior event experience and am best used where I can take ownership, make decisions, and contribute beyond task execution.

X You need someone in a full-time, embedded role. I work independently on contracted engagements.

FAQs

  • What kinds of events do you typically run?

Conferences, user and customer events, summits, sales events, executive programs, and other complex business events. I work across in-person, virtual & hybrid formats, from one major event to broader event programs.

My experience spans B2B technology, professional services, legal, healthcare, and other industries, but the type and complexity of the event matter more to me than the industry.

  • We already have an in-house team. How do you fit in?

Most of my engagements involve working alongside an existing internal team, agency, or both.

If you need someone to lead the event overall, I can take ownership of the full program. If overall leadership is already covered, I can own a defined logistics workstream or help strengthen the systems and processes behind the event.

The scope depends on what you already have in place and where experienced ownership is most useful.

  • Do you work with event agencies?

Yes. I can join an agency team as an independent senior partner for a specific client program or event, including taking ownership of a defined logistics scope or providing additional senior event capacity.

  • Do you do virtual and hybrid events, or only in-person?

All three. I’ve produced in-person, virtual & hybrid events, including programs with attendees, speakers, and teams across multiple time zones. I also hold PCMA’s Virtual Event and Meeting Management certificate.

  • How long does an engagement usually run?

Full-service engagements typically run three to twelve months, sometimes longer or ongoing for full-year programs. À la carte projects can be a few weeks to a few months. The monthly retainer is open-ended. The strategy session is a single working call.

  • How far in advance should we start working together?

It depends on the event and what you need me to own. Major conferences and Full Event Leadership engagements generally need more runway, while a defined logistics scope, operations consulting engagement, or Strategy Session may be able to start closer to the event.

If you’re not sure whether there’s enough time, send me the event date and what’s already in place.

  • What does it cost to work with you?

Engagements are custom-scoped based on the event, the timeline, and what you need me to own. Project fees are based on the scope and level of responsibility rather than blocks of hourly support.

Strategy Sessions are $300. For larger engagements, I’ll recommend a scope and provide a proposal after I understand what you need.
